Let’s throw it back to 2012, twelve years ago, two worlds collided and shook up the whole industry as we knew it and the Tudor Black Bay has smashed its way through a whole decade so to commemorate we’re going back in time to take a look at the top five Tudor Black Bays made to date.

Throwing it back to 2019 when black bay brought us the stunning 42mm shrouded claw like bezel projectors the PO1 (P stands for prototype) blew everyone’s head. Although black bay brings us something special almost every year this was something amazing, not only beautiful but contemporary in looks but all round amazing in its own right, rumor has it it’s based upon the navy prototype from 1967 were there were only four examples ever made and not used, two of the four are still in the Tudor archives even after this long length of time. There was also a Rolex surfaced recently with a very similar design, how bizarre, even stranger Rolex point blank denies its existence.
4. Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 M79010SG-0002
Let’s jump forward to 2021 and it was no different for Black Bay releasing several new colourways with a slightly different but beautiful taupe bezel and dial and slightly smaller the Black Bay 58. You may be thinking picking a color from a simple swatch is easy, ever decorated your house? Then you will know it’s not as simple. The biggest surprise of all wasn’t the all new colorway but the material it was made from it wasn’t gold or steel but silver. The biggest question on people's lips was why silver simply because it was used long before steel and gold and tends to tarnish and isn’t as hard wearing it also needs more regular maintenance and dings easier. Tudor disclosed they choose silver not for its dullness but in actual fact its brightness, and has a few well kept secrets on how to keep their models youthful and bright.

Remember the big craze about the Rolex GMT Master Pepsi, the one in ceramic? The teasers of bi-colour bezels in non Pepsi shades, then the eventual release of the Pepsi ceramic but it was in white and gold the hope of eventually getting it fading to us seemed to drag on for decades. So let’s jump back to Tudor 2018 when the Black Bay GMT was announced giving everyone an affordable, stylish red and blue option finally! Not only did it provide everyone with what Rolex had promised for years, it also went back in time to the prime time of the GMT-Master when it was worn by PanAm pilots. With its brushed steel and anodised aluminum bezel combined with riveted bracelet it was a huge hit with everyone.

Throwing it back to 2017, another huge year for Tudor Black Bay, yes we’re talking about the Black Bay Chrono. We’re not saying the timepiece was perfect but it was an all round excellent watch. And a great affordable alternative to a Rolex Daytona especially those who couldn’t be bothered to wait for one. Fast forward a few years and Black Bay decided to revise and upgrade the watch to make the all important changes so it was finally right, the most significant changes were Tudor actually listened to what the customers wanted, making it ever more appealing this reflects today as they are still relatively hard to get your hands on.
